To ensure an excellent experience for takealot customers, follow the guidelines below when creating listings for your power adapters.
Title
A good title should be descriptive enough for a customer to make the purchase based on the information in the title alone. Avoid marketing language (authentic, genuine, original, etc.). Please note there is a 75 character limit on titles.
Follow the guidelines below when creating a title for your power adapters.
Note: Compatible notebook models should be included in the feature bullets to minimize the exploitation of search relevance.
OEM Power Adapters
[OEM Brand Name] + [Wattage Amount] + [If applicable: Connector Type Variable (e.g. USB-C)] + [Product Name (e.g. Travel Power Adapter, Smart AC Adapter)]
Examples
- HP 65W USB-C Travel Power Adapter (HP Listing)
- HP 90W Smart AC Adapter (HP Listing)
- Dell 45W USB-C Power Adapter Plus (Dell Listing)
- Lenovo 45W AC Wall Adapter (Lenovo Listing)
Compatible Power Adapters
[Third-Party Brand Name] + [Wattage Amount] + [If applicable: Connector Type Variable (e.g. USB-C)] + [Product Name] + “Replacement for” + [OEM Brand Name]
Brand Name
To ensure customers are clear what brand they are buying, the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Brand Name should not be placed directly after or before words denoting Non-Original Products (such as Compatible), unless they are separated by "with" (e.g. “HP compatible” is not OK). “Compatible with HP” is OK. Similarly, titles for non-Original Products should not start with the OEM Brand Name and should include the word “Compatible" in the title. For example, the title “AC Laptop Charger for HP” is not best practice, but “AC Laptop Charger Compatible with HP” is in line with best practice.
Terms such as "equivalent, equal to, similar to, replacement for" are not best practice as they can cause uncertainty on product type.
Only original power adapters should use the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) brand name for the brand filter. Compatible products should list the Third-party brand name.
For example, if the product title is Chicony 65W Compatible with HP Power Adapter, the brand name should read: by Chicony
Best practice for images
As customers rely on primary images to determine exactly what power adapter brand they are buying, the cover photo should show the retail packaging as large as possible (so the brand is readable).
It is optional to include out of box power adapters in the secondary images, but they should not reduce the ability to read the brand.
You can use up to 8 alternate images, and we recommend doing so. Alternate images should feature the product in use as well as close-ups of important features.
For compatible power adapter listings, the OEM brand logo should not be shown in any image.
