Definition

An Offer that has been disabled by Takealot (detailed reasons as to why this can occur and remedial actions required are listed below) and is no longer buyable on Takealot.

Your products will be placed in a Disabled by Takealot state by our Seller Support or Seller Compliance team. This could be for any of the following reasons:

the product is in violation of our terms and conditions
there is an issue with the product information or stock
your account is in violation of our terms and conditions
any other reason determined by Takealot

You can easily find the "Disabled Reason" next to your offer in the Product Details Column on the Manage my Offers page. Additionally, when exporting your offers, the Offers Export will include "Disabled by Takealot Reasons" for every offer that has been disabled.

If your offer has been disabled, we recommend reviewing the table below, which will provide you with explanations and the next steps on what you should do to be compliant and, where applicable, allow for the re-enablement of your offer. Please note that your offer cannot be updated until the issue has been resolved.

Non-ICASA	This product requires an ICASA certification before it can be sold on takealot.com	Please obtain the required Type Approval certificate for the product and submit it to the Compliance Team via the form.
Non-NRCS	This product requires an NRCS Letter of Authority (LOA) before it can be sold on takealot.com	Please obtain the required Letter of Authority for the product and submit it to the Compliance Team via the form
Duplicate Listing	A listing/s created for a product that already exists within Takealot's catalogue.	You will need to list against an existing offer. For more information on how to do this, click here.
Invoice Request	This product requires an invoice to verify authenticity before it can be sold on takealot.com	Submit the request for review.
SLA Customer Invoice Request	A Seller is required to respond to a Customer Invoice Request within a maximum of two business days. Failure to meet this timeframe may result in product disablement.	You will need to click on "Export Sales Details" to receive the customer information required. Use the order details to create the invoice and upload it to the Invoice Requests page of your Seller Portal.
Customer Query SLA	A Seller is required to respond to product queries within a maximum of two business days. Failure to meet this time frame may result in product disablement.	Respond to the email from the Seller Support team with feedback on the product query received.
Parallel Import	A genuine product that is imported and sold in a country through unofficial or unauthorised channels. As per the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) requires Sellers to clearly indicate that the product is a parallel import before it can be sold on takealot.com.	You will need to apply to sell parallel imported goods. Click here to apply.
Trademark Infringement	We received a complaint of trade mark infringement, and namely that your offer(s), as identified by the claimant, infringes their claimed trade mark rights.	We will reach out with further communication.
Copyright Infringement	We received a complaint of copyright infringement, namely that your offer(s), as identified by the claimant, infringes their claimed copyright entitlements.	We will reach out with further communication.
SPCA Complaint	We received a complaint in relation to the Animals Protection Act of 71 of 1962.	We will reach out with further communication.
Counterfeit	We received a complaint of counterfeit products, and namely that your offer(s), as identified by the claimant, infringes their claimed intellectual property rights/that you are allegedly selling counterfeits/unlawful copies.	We will reach out with further communication.
Prohibited Product	A product that is restricted from being sold on takealot.com due to legal, safety, ethical, or policy concerns.	Please refer to the Seller Compliance Guide.
Hazmat	Takealot has a list of products that have been regarded as hazmat(can not be stored in the DC or sold), and this list changes at any time	Please refer to the Seller Compliance Guide for more information.
Inflated RRP	A product has an inflated Recommended Retail Price and, therefore has been disabled.	You will receive an email from the Seller Compliance Team letting you know about the breach. You can resolve the issue by correcting your reported RRP.
High Returns	A product sold on takealot.com that is frequently returned by customers.	View section 4 in the Service Level Agreement (SLA) pertaining to returns and product information quality.
Product Recall	When a manufacturer or retailer or regulatory authority initiates a recall of a product due to safety concerns, quality issues, or regulatory non-compliance. A product recall is an action taken to remove defective or potentially harmful products from the market to protect consumers and address any potential risks associated with the product.	We will reach out with further communication.
Matching Product Offers Inaccurately	When listing items for sale using an existing product detail page, the product being offered must be listed against a product detail page that accurately describes the product in all respects. This would include the following attributes: brand, manufacturer, edition, binding, version, format, or player/device compatibility. Sellers may not match their item to a detail page with a different ISBN, UPC/EAN, or other external identifiers.	You will need to log a ticket in order for Takealot to evaluate your product offers against the rules of the Takealot platform; kindly respond with the following documents per product: - Multiple images of your physical product and its corresponding packaging that you have in your possession to evaluate whether your stock matches the product listing information. - Recent invoices of your stock procurement (you may obscure pricing on the invoice). - Where the product listing contains any intellectual property, we require evidence that you own such IP or an authorising letter from the IP owner giving you permission to use the IP.
Archived	Your offer is linked to a product that has been archived and discontinued. This product has been archived due to two years of inactivity, during which there were no sales and no stock available.	You will need to create a new product. For more information on how to do this, click here.
Catalogue issue - Incorrect Image	The product image does not represent the exact items the customer has received/will receive.	Request product edit by following our How to Submit an Edit Request guide and refer to our Catalogue Rules and Requirements to ensure image requirements are met. Once your product has been edited, use the seller support contact form to inform us of the amendment by selecting the option called “Products disabled by Takealot”.
Catalogue issue - Incorrect description	The product description does not represent the exact items the customer has received/will receive.	Request product edit by following our How to Submit an Edit Request guide and refer to Catalogue Rules and Requirements to ensure description requirements are met. Catalogue issue - Incorrect Title	The product title does not represent the exact items the customer has received/will receive.	Request product edit by following our How to Submit an Edit Request guide and refer to our Catalogue Rules and Requirements to ensure Title requirements are met. Once your product has been edited, use the seller support contact form to inform us of the amendment by selecting the option called “Products disabled by Takealot”.
Catalogue issue - Barcode Integrity	Barcode on the stock supplied does not match the product listing barcode.	Request product edit by following our How to Submit an Edit Request guide and refer to our Catalogue Rules and Requirements to ensure Title requirements are met. Once your product has been edited, use the seller support contact form to inform us of the amendment by selecting the option called “Products disabled by Takealot”.
Catalogue issue - Incorrect size	The incorrect product size was supplied or size variants were listed incorrectly.	Request product edit by following our How to Submit an Edit Request guide and refer to our Catalogue Rules and Requirements to ensure variant requirements are met. Catalogue issue - Missing data	The product listing contains insufficient or incomplete required information.	Request product edit by following our How to Submit an Edit Request guide. Ensure that all attribute fields which are required but are not specified are filled. Follow our guidelines on navigating the product information page What can you see on the product information page. Catalogue issue - Missing Branded Corresponding Product Package Images	The submitted product images do not display the brand name/logo on the physical product.	Refer to our Catalogue Rules and Requirements, and follow the How to Submit an Edit Request guide to provide images of the corresponding product package bearing the brand name/logo or trademark. Once your product has been edited, use the seller support contact form to inform us of the amendment by selecting the option called “Products disabled by Takealot”.
Trademark Not Authorised	The CIPC trademark owner has not selected you to use their brand.	Contact the trademark owner directly to ask them to "opt" you into being an authorised user of this brand by updating their trademark details on Takealot. Alternatively, provide Takealot with the following attachments via the Contact Form: A recent invoice showing 10 units or more or R20 000 purchase OR a letter from the trademark owner allowing you to use this brand. Unsuitable Product - Inflated Selling Price	The selling price is inflated relative to the general retail market prices measured over 90 days and, therefore, deemed an Unsuitable Product as defined in our Seller T&Cs.	Review your Selling Price to ensure that it is accurate and reasonable in the context of general retail market pricing.
Archived	Your offer is linked to a product that has been archived and discontinued. This product has been archived due to two years of inactivity, during which there were no sales and no stock available.	You will need to create a new product. For more information on how to do this, click here.
Inconsistent Offer Based on Reviews	This occurs when there is a significant discrepancy between the product's advertised features or quality and the actual product received by the customer, which results in a disproportionate amount of negative customer reviews.	Review your product listing and identify the root cause of the deactivation. Then, take the necessary steps to remedy the issues and prevent them from happening again. Once your product has been edited, use the seller support contact form to inform us of the amendment by selecting the option called “Products disabled by Takealot”.
Inconsistent Offer Based on Returns	This issue arises when there is a high rate of returns due to the product not meeting customers' expectations or being significantly different from similar products on the platform.	View section 4 in the Service Level Agreement (SLA) pertaining to returns and product information quality. Once your product has been edited, use the seller support contact form to inform us of the amendment by selecting the option called “Products disabled by Takealot”.
Compliance Document Required	This status indicates that your listing has been temporarily disabled due to missing or expired compliance documentation. Please provide the necessary documents for SAHPRA (South African Health Products Regulatory Authority), Liquor License, or Food Safety or any other applicable compliance documentation to reinstate your listing.	Navigate to your account profile and access the dropdown menu. Select 'Account' and proceed to open the 'Compliance Tab'. You will then view the Regualted Product Categories available on Takealot. You will then upload the necessary compliance documentation in the respective product category. Submit your certificate or license for evaluation.

Why am I not seeing a reason for my disabled product?

There may be instances where you cannot see the disabled by Takealot reason. These offers were disabled through a manual process before the release of this new feature. In cases like these, where historical data doesn’t readily display the reason for the disabled offers, please get in touch with the support team for more information.
